November RV Destination of the Month: Washington Wine Country

Contents

In the last few decades, Washington State has proved its status as one of the best wine regions in the nation. Whether you’re in Woodinville, Walla Walla, or the massive Yakima Valley, great wine is just about everywhere. What does that mean for an RV owner?

November RV Destination Wine Country

It means you have the freedom to tour Washington’s beautiful wine country in comfort, whenever you like. Tasting rooms, winery tours, vast road trip landscapes—it’s a perfect November getaway.

Where Do I Start?

Washington is home to over 850 wineries and 43,000 acres of vineyards, so planning a wine country tour can be a challenge. Ideally, you choose several areas that cater to the RV lifestyle and offer the best wine tasting and dining opportunities. Also, you need to take into account the RV parks where you’ll be staying, because the RVing off-season may find some locations closed.

With all of the above in mind, Kirkland RV has compiled a list of a few locations we think are worth visiting. We hope to create a rewarding RV vacation experience in the process.

First Stop: Woodinville

Before crossing the mountains and hitting the open road, we recommend touring some of the fine dining and tasting options in Woodinville. With over 100 wineries in the area, you’re sure to find something your style. In fact, Woodinville is home to the oldest winery in Washington, Chateau Ste. Michelle. With a wide selection of award-winning wines and a dining menu to die for, Ste. Michelle is one of the best bets for anyone looking to experience Woodinville wine.

Experience Yakima

Yakima is the largest wine region in the state. We highly recommend planning a specific route through the area before arriving, especially if you plan on staying for a few days. Unlike Woodinville, which may be best experienced in a night of rustic luxury, the Yakima area is perfect for RV owners. You can drive at your leisure to each tasting spot, and the gorgeous fall landscape outside your window will keep you company on the way.

Walla Walla Wine Country

For your last wine destination, we recommend the Walla Walla area in southeastern Washington. Known for its delicious red wines, the region is second only to the Yakima AVA for wine produced, and it’s perfect for RV owners. Plan in advance to keep your RV at a campground or park or simply use your vehicle as the proverbial “party bus” and tour the entire area. Just be sure to designate a driver before heading out for the day.
